Topic: Fetlocks

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

So, I have a small issue with fetlocks(/fetlock). What does it define? What does it contribute? How should it be used? etc.

  • Fetlock joint? Most digitigrade characters have this to some extent, or would this be used when it is especially prominent? Otherwise it seems a bit superfluous.
  • Hair tuft on/below "heel"? I.e. on the fetlock joint.
  • feathering? I.e. long hair on feet/lower legs in general.

Thoughts?

Alias: fetlocks <-> feathering

The joint meaning isn't particularly relevant to us.

In that case I'd go with fetlocks -> feathering, however I haven't really checked if all fetlocks posts would fit in feathering, besides feathering feels like it is more to be used when there is a focus on that aspect as opposed to e.g. most horse breeds which do not have much feathering to speak of.

Of course one could just clean out fetlocks and use it as the tuft (e.g. heel_tuft/foot_tuft) and move the rest to feathering (or maybe disambiguate and create fetlocks_(tufts) or similar).

Also doubt people have been using feathering as any of the other meanings of the word.
