Topic: Help with League of Legends Wiki

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

So I've been adding characters to the wiki league_of_legends wiki and I noticed inconsistency in their names. Most of the characters have their name and nothing else but others have (league_of_legends) or something similar on the end of them.

I was just wondering if I should set them all to include (league_of_legends) or just do that for characters who have common names such as Annie or Vladimir

Also, is there anyway to set all the characters I have added to the wiki to implicate to league_of_legends because as of right now only 2 characters have the implication set.

Oh wow, nice job with that one.

Generally we only do that for ones that have common names and ones that are likely to cause confusion. For instance, lulu is definitely going to be a common name, kha'zix is not something that would come up...ever, and olaf is also the name of a snowman from Frozen so I might preemptively add the ending. It would be better to standardize the ending to either (league_of_legends) or (lol). It doesn't matter which one but we should probably do it now.

We should also gather up the names with an apostrophe and alias the incorrect name to the correct name (e.g., khazix -> kha'zix).

My rule of thumb for implication sets:
  • Does it have more than 50 posts? Implicate it.
  • Are there only a handful of tags between 10 and 50 posts that need it? Implicate it.
  • Does it have a "franchise-specific" ending? Implicate it. It'll never be used for anything else anyways so there's no reason not to.

Otherwise I don't really find it worth bugging the mods. It increases the chance that it'll get done quickly and efficiently (the mods need to research things before they can approve it of course) and it minimizes the workload for everybody involved.

It's not the only way to go about it, but I find it helpful to maximize the benefit of my own work at least.

Thanks, and yeah that sounds like a good way to go about it.
