If a post has no artist but has the source, why not put the source artist's name as the artist? The only flaws I see is the requirement to find said name, and find said art to prove it to be the source.

In addendum, if said image has more than one artist, or has more than name for the singular artist (A-Z as artists, A/B/C... for more than one name), just use the one found. This would "create" more artists, several possibly the same, but'd give them identity. I have not done this yet, in case there is a rule against it, but i would when i see it (and am not busy).

Because there are too many different cases: the source is sometimes an anonymous artist and people didn't know about the tag, or the source is another image board (rule34, a chan) or a tumblr that doesn't source the art.

If you mean tag FurAffinity, the Tumblr account, etc. that seems kinda pointless. If you mean tag the commissioner or the owner of the tumblr account as the artist, that sounds like a great way to piss off artists and increase our DNP list and takedown requests...

If there are multiple artists, only tagging one could create drama. If an artist goes by multiple names we should alias the names so we don't have to worry about it.
