Could someone with multi-post edit capability help clear out posts with Lucario + jackal?
He's not a jackal, species specific pokemon tags have been shot down a lot. Canine at best.

Well, Lucario's origins describe it as closely resembling Anubis, who in turn is the jackal-headed Egyptian God of the dead.
Other Pokémon clearly resemble real-life species, with some of them being tagged as such. Although others are hybrids (like Zangoose being both cat and mongoose), or based on inanimate objects (like Klefki and Aegislash).

Another thing to add; really obviously dragon-like pokemon like Charizard or Dragonite should imply dragon, so that people blacklisting or searching for posts with/without dragons would also get desired results, no?
(Though I agree that lucario should be accompanied by canine at best)

Yeah, it's called being thorough with your search results.
That's something that I try to achieve when I'm tagging images.

Working on it, as per previous discussions. Pokemon shouldn't be tagged as specific real animals such as jackal, though adding generic categories such as canine is probably okay.

Which is clearly outside information. And they already have a top-level species tag: Lucario, not to mention that they don't actually look anything like a jackal.

Maybe a "Super Species" tag category where the only relevant tags are the generic species and user's can't add their own, they have to petition to have one added.
Things like: Dragon, Humanoid, feline, canine, etc.
Dunno if it'd work or be worth the trouble though.

Believe me, I tried to have the Lucario tag imply the jackal tag, it was shot down.

Canine is enough, I suppose. It's species specific enough.
Other Pokémon could benefit from this, instead of merely having their only name as their species name.

But THEN we run into the Rule 34.2 problem: If it exists, there is a pony version of it. No exceptions.

Why don't we simply create an "alternate_species" tag?

It wouldn't matter, because implying that Lucario is always going to be a canine would break the Tag What You See rule.

Sorry, I was vague.
I meant add an "Alternate_species" tag for images of characters that aren't being portrayed as their original species.
An example: I would mark post #213424 as "Alternate_species" because the Mane Six aren't normally rodents.

So...like, "species_bent"?
Again, it wouldn't allow us to imply canine, because it would go against the Tag What You See policy, but I'd agree that this tag would have some merit to it.

I'm pretty content with the current system. I have long thought that Lucario resembles Anubis who again is a jackal.

I actually like this idea; would be like crossgender but crossspecies instead.

Alternate_species already exists. But it's currently undertagged... and mostly used for ponies.
Edit: And I'm bit confused by the examples used in the wiki. Those look like same species to me.

Well, I'll be happy to do something about that.

I'm guessing that was meant for alternate_hairstyle. :x
Edit: Huh, I don't actually remember writing that...
