Pokémon is already implied to Nintendo, which is therefore already implied to video_games, so why aren't Digimon and Sonic_(series)? After all, all three have made their start in video games and/or have made themselves an established video game series.

It just strikes me as strange, considering all three are multimedia franchises.

Was wondering about it too lately, but always assumed it was intentional.

Unimply Nintendo, they don't own Pokemon. Gamefreak does.

I don't know that much about Digimon, but Sonic would probably be fine. Sonic is on other media, but it definitely falls primarily under video games.

Actually they are owned by The Pokémon Company, which is co-owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. :P

Though I see where you're coming from, it seems clear to me that Digimon is far better known as an anime than a game franchise.

I'm pretty sure that Digimon first appeared in manga form, and it wasn't a video game until after both the first short film and anime series were released.

And like Circeus said, the anime is definitely what it is most known for.
