Topic: Das art removed?!

Posted under Art Talk

Man that's a massive bummer. there was stuff of his that you could ONLY find in this database, but it got yanked when he demanded a (very recent) purge.

I have everything of his, including the older crowjob versions, but it doesn't make me feel any better when an artist, not just das, does a purge like that. It feels like an affront.

I feel almost as betrayed as when varka nuked herpy.net

Took the art down because people kept calling the new versions of crowjob worse than the older versions?

Updated by anonymous

well, whatever he decides to do it's his project so its fate is entirely in his hands in the end. disappointing though it maybe to see it end.

One thing I kinda went wtf with was "just get rid of it along with patreon and focus on doing whatever i please again"
When patreon says "I've set up this Patreon to work as a tip-jar for those who wish to support my creations" and nowhere it says that it's for flash game only.

But if this is the thing that gives them peace of mind, then that's great.

I do remember someone commenting in the similar fashion to "only one thing updated?" on newest crowjob though. I do wonder how well the site works with constantly updated flash content in general, ending up with dozens of copies of same games and constantly bumping into same game isn't ideal.

IIRC, if it becomes a huge deal (like Corruption of Champions back when it updated :P), the site will start replacing all but the newest one

A lot of his ire from crowjob is an overwhelming number of asshats who don't appreciate his various birds and amusing critters and instead pitch bitch fits when shit like basic fox characters aren't in it (because they are so dead common in EVERYTHING ELSE).

Hell, i recall when the vote went out for the female character for crowjob and he worked his ass off on a wasp, bee, and Ant character, but these assholes kept bitching, so he held a vote, and these assholes who are never satisfied picked a dull ass fox bitch.

basically ALL of his incentive to work on the game died at that point, as it meant "no, you can't be inventive and fun, you have to do the same boring ass shit you've been avoiding."

I REALLY understand his ire, but I feel terribly upset that I can't post older versions of Crowjob here or even his 3D animations, even as a sort of backup for people who DON'T like FN (I'm one of them).

Not to overinterject, but I believe our animatorbirdfriend needs to learn the basic of 'Word of God,' so to speak. Artist-Knows-Best.
As much as I appreciate an artist's funding and community concerns, there's a point where any self-respecting artist must draw the line and say "It's my decision."
At the end of the day, the right and burden of creative freedom lies with the CREATOR; my chief concern is more for his state-of-mind. That defeatist attitude bodes poorly for the whole 'selfrespecting'bit.

Tl;dr we should teach him to tell the backseats to fuck off so he can go back to drawing fun stuff he ENJOYS making proper.

To be fair, I am more than a little biased. Those who get in the way of people creating new, fun wasps simply need to burn.

The game from the post . We can source old copies of the game via deleted posts, C&P the URLs, etc.. The game is "deleted" (read, hidden) here, but it's still accessible from our site. 'Just takes an additional tag (status:deleted or status:any) to find 'em.

It's a real shame that he kept remaking the game from scratch, but it seems to me like his art was evolving faster than he could put out a finished game.

I think he meant having alternate sources apart from the original post on FN, and he would rather view it here.

Also, most of the source links are linked to the blogpost related to the update, not the specific game update itself. (If you go to the older sources and selected "Play", you would be redirected to the most recent version).

There were multiple versions of the game that had been scraped by the artist and had content not found in the latest version. They were archived here on e6 but were subsequently removed following the takedown.

Bingo, including the ant shortstack that belonged to another artist, the gay xeno in the bathroom (both from first version), and even the BBW xeno queen (second version).

You can't find those in the more recent one because people keep bitching and saying to include one boring thing or another.

These are the possible girls he made, wasp, ant, and Mouse.

shitters kept saying "what about a fox?" and bitched that they wanted a female fox because shitters.

Das was making crowjob to please his fans after all, so he held a poll: "What should the female be?
-ant
-wasp
-mouse
-fox

And the shitters en masse voted fox and as soon as that went through, the game DIED because he lost what remained of his incentive.

he only recently flexed his "no, fuck you, I'll do what I want" when he said crowjob is on indefinite hiatus and he's doing 3D works primarily. Sadly, this included him nuking his e621 posts because a lot of the assholes who voted on the poll came from here and didn't watch his pages specifically.

I don't like it at all since a faithful follower like me is forced to suffer due to the inability to post mirrors in a place like this when an artist does that.

I can't think of a single reason why someone would feel like they need to purge to avoid a swarm of haters on the internet. If you were getting real-life harassment, sure, go ahead. but there are way too many methods of controlling contact from people online to justify something like this, in my opinion.

Where did we go so wrong, where nobody can handle a dozen trolls or people who dislike your work. Look at Deviantart, Inkbunny, Furaffinity, and 90% of other content hosting sites on the internet: except for 4chan and a few other places, you're simply not allowed to say anything negative (sometimes including even constructive criticism) - you either metaphorically wipe someone's balls clean, or your opinion is not allowed because the internet is slowly but surely turning into one big safe-space echochamber, one website at a time.

Have you ever had to deal with over 50 messages full of hate per day? Or more?

You'd pull out to. You can say you wouldn't but you would.

Its horrible.

Really? Artists can remove hostile comments but I haven't seen anything that punishes the person who commented in the first place aside from a removed comment and maybe a block. The site itself has nothing wrong with it, unless something's changed.

Nah. Stop making more, sure, but I didn't go back and delete the existing things.

To be fair, and I'm not saying people should have been bitching nonstop about everything, but Das has restarted this game several times hinting at upcoming content that people have been wanting, namely the fox (Milan) NPC that was teased in the version twice removed from Station 3. And a lot of characters have repeat appearances between games, and had become fan favorites.

Das put a poll up with several characters, Milan (the fox), 2 different birds (one of them being Taina from the previous like, ever single version), and then after people picked, he just was like "Nah, it's now gonna be this insect lady", which made people upset. And like, yeah you can say that he can do whatever he wants, and I guess he can, but it's not unreasonable some people are going to get upset.

Also he has a huge habit of just like.. nuking all of his own content and moving sites, leaving behind a trail of broken links. And pretty much any site that is stable enough to be a reasonably permanent host to anything of his either has been purged like e6 or just has links to various blogs and webpages that are just straight up gone.

For instance, right now finding the latest patch of Station 3 isn't too hard. Finding the Crowjob in Space version that came before that one though, is a lot harder. Ironically, finding the version that came before THAT is a lot easier, for now, but that lasts only about as long as need to basically reformat and restart everything again kicks in. Then the ones before THAT are like almost impossible to find again.

After all, a lot of his older works before Crowjob are 3D animations and most of them have been removed from about every site, as he had a similar work stress melt down, except in reverse. And because everybody was relying on his personal sites for those works, now the only versions that exist are extremely vague grainy ones kept by people that didn't acquiesce to his need to basically restart himself every while.

And I'm not saying this, in like the sense that Das is a bad guy. Like he seems like a pretty decent person, though with his own sort of like, mental hang ups. And I don't even really mind him being like "Nah, I'm done this one, moving on to the next thing"; though I'd wish he'd promise less, because I can kind of understand people getting upset when he promises things that don't come about, only for him to restart a project. But like, it's not his job so I can get being like 'Nah, I'm done, working on something else for a bit'.

I really just wish he wouldn't like, have some sort of OCD like need to try to clear everything he's done from the internet every time he decides he needs to like 'rebrand' himself. Like, it's totally cool if you want to work on 3D art again for a while, or even forever, or whatever. Like the only people you need to really answer to are like.. yourself and maybe your Patreon patrons or commission customers.

But it's like, please stop trying to nuke everything from the internet every time you decide to switch to a different medium. It makes it a pain in the ass for anybody that like, actually liked the stuff you made.

In a sense that's exactly what they do. Delete all comments that don't please them, be it genuine harassment, constructive criticism of their work, or calling them out on some shit like maybe conning through Patreon. Then, block anyone saying such things or siding with those people, leaving the artist or user with a "safe space" of followers who at best are just silent lurkers interested only in porn (which is a problem of it's own contributing to FA if you ask me), and at worst a crowd of boot lickers who want free art in exchange for ego stroking and rabid white knights who'll go swarm anyone who criticizes their "favorite artist".

As many of us should know it's part of the key reason for e621 being loathed by many artists and them purging their work from here, much like Gaijin and Reddit they can't control the comments and the opinions, and folks here have little to no fear of expressing their opinions as a result, so they use the site's honoring of takedowns and DNP as a perceived weapon of revenge.

Another artist meltdown, not shocking.

I hope he finds the peace he's seeking.

You don't know me, I can handle trolls. Even if I couldn't, I'd take my own advice and start a new art page, and leave the old one behind.

Okay, I know I shouldn't focus on this, yet I'm glad I decided not to take a shot every time you typed the word "like."

Twenty-one shots. I'd be dead AF.

As for Das? Ehh. He's constantly complaining on his FA about things just in an attempt to open some sort of dialogue or conversation with people. I'm pretty sure he knows the stuff he complains about is generally petty and ridiculous, but it seem almost as though he's not sure of any better way to engage people.

We do, after all, know how much people like to get involved with complaints and drama, despite how much many claim to dislike it.

Das' biggest problem is that he thinks he's worse than he is and I'm not sure he'll ever think he's not. This means that any sort of criticism, outcry, or harsh words that come, and they inevitably do come due to how wishy-washy the man is, affects him pretty deeply.

He has more issues than simply mental, he has work issues, real life issues, he's made it clear that he doesn't have any RL friends, or at least that's what he'd have us believe.

Yet when he says things like "And look in the scraps before you bitch about 'bringing back my gallery' you fucktwats" it makes it difficult to be anything other than an intrepid internets white knight or one of the people he considers a "fucktwat."

I don't know if he'll ever be happy with himself or his art, but I do know that he never will be if he keeps doing the same things he's been doing for years. Simply restarting and "rebranding" yourself over and over won't accomplish anything if about the only thing that actually changes is the logo, so to speak.

I want to like Das, and I used to actually care what he had to say, but now? Nah. I see his journals in my feed I just delete them, I see content from him I more or less ignore it because I know without a doubt that in the description and the comments it's just going to be a snarky remark at the expense of someone and/or a group of people he leaves vague or more of him being down on himself.

I hate that I feel that way about him but over the years that's just about the only thing that's been consistent.

Clearly he needs help from a real face-to-face person, needs to make friends that can physically pull him aside and talk to him, needs to feel as though he's not alone, which he's mentioned feeling numerous times, yet something in him stops him from finding people like that or even really befriending anyone.

He refuses to help himself and in such no one can actually help him either. This is just his cycle of life and only he can change that. Until then anyone who might like him or his works is just shit outta luck because he'll just keep making things then nuking it all and starting over while nothing actually important changes.

So, yeah, /he/ is at fault here, he allows all of this to happen and has allowed himself to have no real support structure and has allowed himself to really befriend no one, at least if his journals are to be believed. If he won't let anyone in then he'll always be alone and if he's always alone he'll always have the issues he has. There's nothing we, his fans, or anyone else can do beyond wait and hope that he figures life, and his place in it, out.

Man the fuck up, get those shots out. :D (Or woman the fuck up or whatever I don't care)
Sorry if I type in a more casual or speech sort of ... tone than is probably appropriate. I'll try to give you less alcohol poisoning in the future (until I forget).

I don't think all of Das's problems, are 'his fault' per say. It's clear he has some kind of mental illness or needs therapy or something, and it's not entirely his fault in that sense. And I'm not saying that in a derogatory mean kind of 'lol he's fucking crazy' way, but in a serious fashion. But because I'm not some kinda doctor or what not, it's not as if I can really armchair diagnose him or suggest anything. I could be miles off. And I don't think it's necessarily fair of me to try to do so, and so I'll refrain from it. I just hope that if he does need help he can find it.

It's one thing to discuss somebody's actions, another thing entirely to discuss somebody's potential, personal shortcomings.

I think it's poor taste to continue the discussion in this vein, especially since the person in question isn't here to clear up any misunderstandings. We're not a gossip column.
