We're the furverts. We are the people who non-furries see, and we make the rest of the furries look bad. Does that make us bad? Do you think we should be proud or ashamed to be furverts?

If I rolled my eyes more I would be looking at the inside of my head.
Furry is a fetish, and the ones who enjoy mature art in some way far outnumber they few that don't.
So get over it, basically :D

While I do agree that it's probably true that there are more "Furverts" than non-furverts in the fandom, I doubt that you could really call those non-furverts "few."
Anyway, the typical e621 user doesn't seem to be the type of furvert most (rational) people actually have a problem with. You know, the kind that wears diapers in public and brings furry porn comics to Starbucks.

I am a pervert.
Unabashedly so.
The fact that I am a coyote,
and like fuzzy critters
rarely seems to enter into the conversation.
(as my perviness and raw, unabated awesomeness usually has already scared most into running away, making them easier targets for domination).

No we're not bad people, we're just different.
Updated by anonymous
I don't really consider myself a furry, as I'm sure I've mentioned, but I'll try to answer anyway.
I don't get how anyone sees "furverts" as necessarily bad.
What exactly is the problem here? Who is harmed by anthropomorphic porn?
If anything, I would say that the people who have such a narrow view of sexuality that they demonize anyone with interests who are different from their own are the bad people.

What's a bad person?
No, seriously. People talk about X being a good person or Y being a bad person all the time.. but they don't define what they mean.
Personally the only definition that satisfies me is a competency based one (good person == effective at life as a whole, in a balanced sense).
Some of the people who draw really fucked up stuff (death, mutilation, rape, serious abuse..) make me doubt their general competency at life. For everyone else, IMO it's far less obvious -- you would have to know them personally to say whether their participation in furry fandom is positive or negative for their life.
I would agree with clawdragons though that those who confidently pronounce you a bad person for your taste in porn, are themselves pretty incompetent at life.

I think CK was referring to people in general, not only furries.
IMO there are two types of people: those who really don't give a fuck about sex [== might possibly not be perverts maaaaybe], and those who do [==invariably are perverts].

Yes we are terrible, the worst of the worst and should be ashamed of our selves.
Not really porn is porn, someone who watches/looks at porn isn't instantly a pervert, at least from my understanding.
Updated by anonymous
I'm a terrible person, sure, but that has nothing to do with furries

No.
Just you in particular.

Why do you care?

If you have to ask, yes, yes you are.

Well i don't call my self a furry because i don't like anthro art. But we are not bad. We are something different, but not bad. I'll not start to philosophically explain it. :D

I just come here for the art and there's nothing wrong with looking at porn.

i think i come here purely for the drama :-/

I barely even refer to myself as a furry, mostly because I feel the term fits in loosely to what I like, and what some of us like.
I prefer the term "animal gynecologist".
Of course, this is coming from someone who feels like drawing furry art in the near future, and has invested a lot of time and effort into e621.

If im ashamed of liking furry porn, i wouldnt really call myself a furry, or talk to other furries, or choose to spend my free time on furry porn sites.

good/bad, moral/immoral, etc.
opinions and how you perceive things regardless of if you choose to or not.
simply put: we are what we are and i could probably care less about others opinion of me.

Well I don't exactly define myself by my porn viewing habits and I do not use them as any sort of identifier, nor am I active in any sort of community relating to it (unless you count shitting up one forum among many like I do as being "active") so I'm not a furry, for one. Secondly, it's not like this is the only kind of porn I view either so if people wanna stamp a title relating to my tastes in porn on me they're gonna find it pretty difficult, and that's assuming I'm even open about my porn preferences, which I am not except in present company where it is a relevant topic. Third, if people can't accept the fact that every possible scene or community that revolves around ANYTHING has a few embarrassments in it, then that's on them. I never signed up to be a part of anyone's PR department. And if that's magically my job description because I fap to a couple pictures that belong to a certain medium then those fuckers better pay a living wage.
Plus moralism of this nature never really struck me as anything other than an excuse for self-flagellation anyway. No offense meant. Some people are into that and that's okay. ;)

I clearly had nothing better to do.

We're the furverts.
Sure, by associating members of a website with the content on that website. Then it should be stated that members of FurAffinity and most other furry websites are also furverts by association, since I'm sure a majority of furry websites don't block or discourage furry porn. Is there an arbitrary line, some ratio of SFW to NSFW/erotic content or perhaps the popularity of such content (e.g., likes, favorites, followers, unique traffic, total visitors), where innocent members of a furry website wouldn't bear the yoke of association with the furverted members of that website?
But your post works better if that's a form of address (i.e., "To all furverts:"), so I'll go with that instead.
We are the people who non-furries see,
Heh, now that's not true. If anything, furverts are the ones non-furries don't see and especially don't want to see, yet the non-furries are consciously or unconsciously aware furverts, or rather furry porn, exists. By and large, aren't the most publicly visible furries the ones wearing suits, going to and organizing furry conventions, broadcasting their exuberance through their (non-suit) clothing, using (SFW) furry avatars (although there's a marked rise in ahegao furry avatars of late), and producing high-cringe YouTube videos?
Keep in mind that, in those cases, there usually isn't much if any suggestion of furvertedness from those outgoing furries, although they could still be socially conscientious furverts. (Imagine the mortification and shitstorm if a high-visibility furry trying to spread "the good word" was outed as a furvert too. Scandalous.) I'm still going to double down on the idea that those visible furries are much less interested in furry porn than furverts, since they appear to have more fully embraced their furry identity than the average furvert.
and we make the rest of the furries look bad.
Isn't the prevailing sentiment that visible furries accomplish that well enough on their own without needing non-furries to heap on "and they like masturbating to pictures of animals" or straight-up "and I bet they're animal fuckers" too? Nevertheless, I won't deny that, as I mentioned above, innocent furries really do bear the yoke of association with furverts, such as when a non-furry assumes every furry possesses the same perceived negative traits.
Furries are known for various qualities that non-furries dislike or find outright repulsive, not the least of which is produce and consume anthro and feral porn. Personally, I have a strong disdain for furry role-playing and characteristic cloying speech (i.e., hugbox mentality, "too happy"). Regardless, it's rather difficult to objectively measure the average offensiveness various furry traits have for non-furries, so the notion that furvertedness is somehow worse than other furry traits is also dead in the water on a technicality.
Does that make us bad?
If you've followed me so far, then this question isn't particularly valid anymore. Certainly, furverts aren't any worse for the furry image at large than the visible furries who already make all furries seem like kooky weirdos to non-furries... unless that "badness" were to be derived from the immorality of sexual attraction to drawn (or real) animals, which belongs in a separate discussion.
Do you think we should be proud or ashamed to be furverts?
That's like asking if someone should be proud or ashamed of being a citizen of a country, as if there's no third option. Neither, unless an individual chooses to take responsibility for their peers and their culture's cross-cultural relationships, which is foolish in my opinion.

Having a fetish isn't bad. Everyone has a fetish. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. Some closed minded people will just try to shame you for it. Anyone rational will know how it doesn't define your entire being.

Even asexual people ?
(I think the definition of 'fetish' is broadening a lot. It used to mean more along the lines of ' something not obviously sexual that is *necessary* for you to get off '.. as opposed to how you're using it which seems to be just 'an idea/scenario that consistently turns you on, possibly more than you think it should'

To everyone who responded: thank you.
I'm not the most emotionally stable person, so seeing that there are people who actually care and will give what I think a moment of their time and energy means a lot to me.
I'm going to have to think about things for a while. :)

Considering that over 90% of the population masturbates, I would be willing to say well over half of the furry fanbase masturbates or has sex.
