Reason:

As I can find no posts tagged tanning involving the curing and treating of hides/leather, I would say these are the same, with sunbathing way out in front.

Alias can also be applied to sun_tanning.

I'd say the other way around, as people can tan in artificial devices.

Meh. Either one works for me. Suntanning/tanning/sunbathing tend to be used interchangeably regardless of the technical differences. We're probably fine as long as we just pick one and alias all the others to it.
