The mushrooms on Blight's back are similar in effect to the flatworm parasite
Leucochloridium paradoxum
and the fungal parasite
Ophiocordyceps
The fungus has infested every part of the original host body,
and now the two organisms live as one.
The fungus is responsible for the bright colors reflected in Blight's coat,
nature's ages-old toxicity warning sign.
It also controls the movement of the eyes,
which are always shifting and pulsating with all the colors of the rainbow.
The mushrooms and fungal patches produced on the body,
upon observation in low light, produce a bioluminescence.
They can also be removed and will regenerate,
but they produce highly toxic spores and should be handled with care,
and should not,
under any circumstances, be ingested.
