guandao
A guandao is a Chinese polearm that is similar to the European glaive and the Japanese naginata as it is also a single-edged bladed pole weapon primarily used for slashing opponents from a distance. It also often sports a red fabric on the connecting point between the blade and the shaft, especially on modern incarnations of the weapon. Some guandao also have a serrated or ornate back or a series of rings along the back.
