The Octarians are a species from the Splatoon series. They descend from octopuses and serve as a parallel to the Inklings, who descend from squids.
While they generally serve as the main antagonists of the series, some, such as Marina and Agent 8, are allies to the player.

Octarians come in different forms, some appear as Cephalopod Humanoids which are known as Octolings, but there exist many other types with all kinds of non-humanoid appearances, most of which are akin to octopus tentacles, such as Octotroopers.

Some have undergone a process of "sanitization" to become Sanitized Octarians, losing their life's energy and taking a different, green-ish coloration.
