Pocky and Rocky, known as KiKi KaiKai (奇々怪界) in Japan, is a series of shoot-em'-up games created by Taito. Unlike many games in its genre, Pocky and Rocky is themed after traditional fantasy, starring Pocky (Sayo-chan), a Shinto shrine maiden defending her shrine against antagonistic yōkai. In later games, she is joined by a friendly tanuki companion, Rocky (Manuke). It is unique among shoot-em'-ups for allowing players movement in eight directions, scrolling both horizontally and vertically.
Although the original entry in the series was developed and published by Taito, almost all later entries in the series have been developed and/or published by Natsume under license from Taito.
