Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a federation of six states, two territories, and a federal district; the country covers the entire continent of the same name, as well as several islands, the largest of which is Tasmania (which is also one of Australia's states).

Australia is known for its unique native wildlife — particularly the kangaroo, which is also the national animal — its vast Outback territory, surf culture, popularity of cricket, and wine.
