  • I showed this comic to a real life twin and was told that they would never say or even think the "But... I have never been at the..." line. He would just instinctively know it was referencing his clone. Twins which go places together get confused for each other so often, literally on a daily basis, that such confusion is second nature to them.

One interesting quirk about being confused for someone else is people generally do not explain to you why and where they saw you, since often they think you saw or even spoke to them there (though the whole fainting thing in this case is probably the reason why this fella spilled the beans so eagerly), so the standard response my friend gives to a twin confuser is "Where?" in order to extract that useful intel. It is too long and difficult to explain to every passer by that they are mistaking you for a twin, so he usually does just what Celio did and walks off to find his other self, even if it isn't a critical emergency like it was here.

I understand that that dialogue was probably included not to indicate that Celio had to think (even then he didn't have to think hard or anything) to figure out what was happening but rather so us readers could follow it, but I feel like details and experiences like this are really interesting.
