  • Y'know, one explanation for her sudden turnabout wasn't that she was always anti-predator and in fact was pro-pred.

But given Bellwethers relationship with Shep since college and a past of being "losers" together, it is possible she went into social service in fact trying to jockey for improved pred-prey relations. But I can see the crushing effect of Zootopias ingrained prejudices gradually wearing down her optimism and slapping harsh truths in her face as she goes into the political beuracracy until she internalizes all that cynism and goes full on Stepford Smiler about the festering rage boner at being shafted by being a small cutesy animal trying to make a difference.

She gradually grows more and more bitter to Shep and though not to as exaggerated extent as the other comic, she gets frustrated and takes it out on him. Then she eventually breaks up with him near the beginning of her Nighthowler scheme

In a sense, she could be a foil to Judy as a person in similar circumstances driven by a desire to change things for the better, but allowed Zootopias intrinsic prejudices to crumple her morally and emotionally.

I've watched the movie a couple times now. I can't shake the feeling of Bellwether coming from the same place that Judy: a small animal trying to defy expectations. And I am pretty sure her hate of preds comes in a big part due to Lionheart. Guy is a douche, and she hates his guts. She directs some of this anger/frustration towards preds.

Definitely not Hitler. Not at all similar.

  • Honestly i dont recall her saying anything anti-pred in the film. i think she just wanted power and this was a means to an end.

  • I kinda wonder whether she just had enough of Lionheart's bullshit and just wanted some way to get back at him, and everything just kinda spiraled out of control for her.

I actually saw a documentary about Hitler's life. I think he went crazy because he fought in WW1. In fact alot of the worst people in history tend to have a messed up past. Wouldn't surprise me if Bellwether was the same.

wasnt saying she didnt have reason to dislike preds, im just saying in the film she didnt say anything overtly anti-pred, and most likely wanted power and chose the minority as a steppingstone. like the nazis and the jews, a few might have genuinely hated jews, but most just got swept up in nationalism and the propaganda. Hitler had jews around him the entire war, he called them "noble jews" and they were exempt from the camps and state seizures. and i think hitler going crazy was more to do with the limitless power and all the drugs he did, and less to do with wwi.

Adorable, yes, but what changed her mind about predators?

Well personal Headcanon/story time, Dawn had a life somewhat like Judy or the other kids in Bunnyburrow had and she was bullied by a Predator but she didn't think much of it that they were just a bully, until it kept happening. Sure there was the occasional Prey bully but most of them were all Predator and she saw it happen to a lot of her friends and other Prey animals as well; this instilled some dislike of Predators in her.

As she continued through her life and school and eventually fell into a group of Prey mostly Sheep that had similar experiences to her but they hated all Predators figuring them all to be the same and she started to listen and buy into their dogma until sometime during her High school to College years where she met Shep, and she started to think differently he was kind and sweet, and they shared many interests and eventually started dating.

Her new friends didn't like her dating a Predator and pushed for her to break up with Shep saying that he'll just be like any other Predator but despite what they drilled into her a deeper stronger part of her resisted she loved Shep so she couldn't just leave him but she also didn't want to lose the only friends she had at the moment so she pretended to break up with him and kept their relationship a secret.

Shep on the other hand broke off ties with his friends when they didn't approve of their relationship saying that Pred-Prey relationships were wrong, that she was a loser, a freak, or bad news. Shep loved her, he knew in his heart what was right and wanted to shout from the rooftops letting the whole world know that he loved Dawn Bellwether and didn't care what anyone else thought... except for her and wanting to keep their relationship a secret he didn't understand or believe the reasons she gave him but he didn't care he still had her.

As time went on their secret relationship stayed both a secret and a solid relationship Dawn got a job as assistant Mayor in Zootopia and Shep couldn't have been happier until he popped the questioned that night and she said yes.

Unfortunately Dawn still kept in touch with her friends from school that became more extremist as the years passed by and they still believed that she broke up with Shep all of those years ago so they couldn't have the wedding that they both dreamed of for so many years, but using her new position in office she was open to discreetly get them a marriage license and make it official and they were both happy.

But unfortunately this happiness could not last as time went on and she endured berating, demeaning, and condescending remarks day in day out from her boss the reminding her of the bullying she and other Prey had to endure from Predators and the ideas from her friends beginning to deeply implant themselves in her head, she started to resent Shep after are he was a Predator like their Mayor Leodore Lionheart who began to make her life a living hell.

She began to hate Shep berating him like Lionheart did to her and saying things like her friends say about Predators, she would have just broken up with him and kicked him out with her position she could have easily annulled their marriage but a deeper part of her, the her from all those years ago when she met Shep was still holding on not letting go of control and despite all of the things she said she still loves him and wants him in her life.

Shep found all of these changes that Dawn was going through was strange and some of the things she has said to them hurt he still truly loved her with all of his heart and he knew deep down that she still did as well.

After the events of the movie Dawn had plenty of time to think of what happened and what she did wrong the part of her that still loved Shep and was uncorrupted by irrational hate implanted in her by her 'friends' and when she walked out of the prison and looked at Shep when he came to pick her up all of the stuff that she put him through came crashing down around her, she wanted him to tell her that he hated her for she knew she deserved it for what she's done but she was also fearful Shep the only thing left in her life now would leave her that he didn't love her anymore but she still loved him, Divorce being the biggest fear and expected outcome of the events that happened. But Shep still loved her and never stopped he loved her just as much as he did when he purposed to her that night all those years ago and continued to love her even as he digested the info on everything she did and wanted to accomplish.

So that's what I think and wow that was a long post, sorry for any grammar or punctuation errors.

Yea, if you wish to make a really long story like that, just use "[.section]" and "[./section]", at the beginning and end. Or, with what I did, "[.section=*name*]" and "[./section]". Both of those are without the periods, since imputtiing those wouldn't let you see them.

So that's what I think and wow that was a long post, sorry for any grammar or punctuation errors.

So I like to introduce a headcanom continuation of my own...

After a few weeks, Dawn starts receiving death threat letters as practically the whole city hates her, as well as rotting tomatoes an lettuce stamping to their door.

Scared, impotent and frustrated the sheep goes back to taking it to her husband, claiming he is useless and doubting of his love for her.

Well experienced in the ways of his sheep, he always gets to her soft side by showing true love, calming the ewe with to much well palaced kisses and hugs. Dawn finding comfort in his words and actions often breaks in tears unable to understand how he put up with her bullshit "Why wont you leave me you stupid mutt?". And as she sees stains of rotten fruits on his fur "My world is full of misery and sorrow, you don't have to suffer the same".

With watery eyes the wolf responds "As I told you before, I love you, and I could never leave you when you need me the most".

While embraced in each other arms a scramble grows outside their home, they brake their clinch as the mayhem burst with stones though their windows. An angry mob shouting out to Bellwether. All too afraid she dares peek by the broken glass to catch at the glimpse of both pred and prey holding torches and pitchforks wreaking mayhem in her porch, there is even sheeps angrily calling her out, 'those traitors!' she thinks to herself.

The ewe trying to shrink herself in a corner can do nothing but watch at her husband holding the door as an elephant sends him flying along whit the door and other furniture used to barricade. Despairing the ex-mayor jumps to the knock-out lover "NO! SHEP!". Holding his head with both hooves over her lap she glances with fury at the wicked faces that look down onto her tasting the success in their diabolical intentions.

Gulping down she cries "Ju-just spare him, he as done no wrong to you to-to anyone" The mammals smirk as a pleased coyote sings "don't worry little lamb, we wont kill your shepherd dog, but hi will join us to our party".

Ignoring her cries and shouts they strip her form the grasp of the unconscious mammal, to drag them out, to the maws of the citizens that she deceive, that she betray, now acknowledging the true magnitude of her mistake.

She drops to the floor with a cry of pain that doesn't come from her but from the coyote that had held her up. The sound of punches and fitting goes as fast as they come. And through her tears sees and hears the figure of the city's favorite bunny-cop heroine, shouting at mob with an over sized speaker to disperse out.

Confused by the display of the beloved police woman and the incoming riot control officers the mob desist the lynching attempt and oblige to Judy's demands.

Hysterical Dawn bleats at her savior "I don't want YOUR HELP! you HYPOCRITE I did you wrong! you HATE ME more than they do!, and i HATE YOU TOO!" On her knees and in a pool of misery.

Judy Hopps turns to look down to her and in a condescending demeanor says "That's true, but hate only leads to injustice as you have seen, and that's the opposite of what I stand for".

The bunny walks out into her city not even glancing back to the little ewe that bitter-sweetly sobs by her wolf's side.

    ...

Years later forget and forgive come along to let the once most hated mammal in zootopia live in peace within the city, even finding friends that accept her and her wolf as another happily pred&prey couple. Dawn Bellwether spends the rest of her days helping the poor, homeless, and victims of hate crimes to make up for all the hate she unleash.

Please for give my grammar mistakes, English is not my mother language an this is the first fanfic i write.
