  • I'm guessing once the kids grow up a bit and start thinking more like people, they'll be raised in a more sympathetic manner.
    For humans you wouldn't be able to do this because the infants (or toddlers) would go do something stupid and die. These hatchlings survive well enough on their own so they CAN be left alone. Just like a lot of animals on earth.

    Plus, there's an obvious difference in the emotional needs of the hatchlings. Primate babies NEED to be with a parent in order for their brains to grow properly(detailed in the book "Love at Goon Park", for those curious). Not so with these guys, apparently. Though I wonder, would there be any difference in behavior if a hatchling was reared in person, instead of separated like this?
