Tail to Trail
The smoothly gliding bike chain let out a soft 'whurr whurr' as the vixen pedaled forth on the freshly cleaned bicycle. With a huff her chest fell, releasing a loud exhale as she pressed forwards - her goal was to get to the bayside in under 10 minutes today. Aeril had been training on her new cycle for weeks now, trying to get a better handle on the weight of the steel frame as she cornered over rough terrain. Fortunately for her the new to her frame was rugged and had lasted through several extensive journeys and services; at least so she was told by a friend. Looking up she could see the blue sky dotted with puffy clouds, it couldn't have been a more perfect day to have a cycling adventure. The hiss of shocks absorbing the bumpy trail brought her mind back as readjusted her eyes to the trail ahead..
'Damn it...I hate inclines...' She began pressing her weight on the pedals more firmly now to keep her momentum. The foxes hips swung hard to keep up with her prior speed, her chest breathed heavily to keep pace with her exertion. Nearing the top of the trail that bordered along the bay-side Aeril was standing on her cycle, pressing with heavy steps to keep the cycle moving up-hill. With one final burst of exertion she made it to her bay-side objective. She stood over the bike at the top of the hill wiping a forearm across her brow she withdrew a phone from her pants hip pocket to check the time...10 minutes and 50 seconds...'Not bad but I can totally shave off more time next go around...' Aeril confidently thought to herself.
With a pant she looked over the glinting water and cloud pocked blue sky, the two almost seeming to converge in the far off horizon. The vixen walked the bike forwards unslinging the camo pack with a huff, rummaging about to find the bottle of Mountain Doe sports drink she packed earlier. Savoring the moment in the sun she took a swig of the drink then stared into the horizon again as her chest rose and fell between heavy breaths...
'Enough gawking, lets go' her mind prodded after a brief breather. Aeril caught one more glimpse of the bay before straddling the bike once more. Pedaling away with a soft 'whurr' of the oiled chain and crunch of dirt under tread.
