Nah, the tongue has never been an issue when I do it. The real issues are properly aiming your dick so it enters your mouth/not tapping yourself on the forehead, and then propping your head up so you get the angle and leverage needed. Also, when preparing to penetrate yourself, you will often soften up. You need to quickly get in position and maintain arousal while upside. After all, the blood flow towards your dick will be lessened as in this position.
