You must mean the United States of America, because basically all the rest of America has embraced it as their national sport. They also correctly call it 'football'/'futbol'.

The USA really is the odd one out when it comes to this sport.

This is incredibly fitting, since the Dutch national women's football team is commonly referred to as 'the Orange Lionesses'.

Which, North or South? Because you mean THE AmericaS, clearly. ("Just call it The United States for short!" What, you mean like The United States of Mexico?) And if it's North America, I think you're missing a big part of it...

Also the British named American football - so blame it on them. (Because it's played ON foot, you see, rather than horseback. Like polo.)

Anywho, merely observing that anthro players would be great.
