Topic: Minor change?

Posted under General

This isn't a really big deal and I hope it's not difficult to add either, but I notice when you go to e621.net and start typing no characters appear in the search bar unless you click on it, this is not the case with other websites like google and such. Would it be difficult to make the search bar 'active' upon visiting the website? This is a minor issue but if it's easy to change it would make a lot of people's experience with the website a little better :3

In other words, ahve it default to the search bar being 'clicked" when the page loads? that actually sounds like a pretty good idea.

Yes, exactly, I've always wondered why e621 didn't do this, while so many other websites do, finally figured why not suggest it

I personally find that kind of "feature" to be incredibly annoying. For example, imagine I load up, say, post #118274 (a really huge image, in other words) and I want to go straight to the comments for whatever reason. I'll scroll down to the very bottom, select the textbox I want, start typing, then five words in I'll jump back to the top of the page because the search bar is selected (in Firefox the "auto-select textbox" scripts only seem to activate when the page is fully loaded). I've got slow reflexes, so I press enter. I am now loading a different page, potentially full of images, that I never wanted to view.

See the problem?

I'm specifically talking about http://e621.net/ and nothing else, since the main page has nothing else to type into

because it's not very kosher in web design. It's actually detrimental to certain text browser systems and it destroys workflow. Once html5 is pushed farther I'll be able to auto implement

For what he's asking here? That's what I assumed he meant, myself- Not every page.
