Topic: Positive records

I see that positive records are so rare. What are the general reasons they are given out? Can you get them for good behavior?
I really want one lol

People are more likely to report bad behavior than good, but yes, you get positive records for good behavior. It's just harder to get them.

Understandable. Not gonna lie I look at peoples profiles a lot to see if they have any. Most of them either neutral or negative or none at all. I think positives should be a bit more common! as they are as it is basically a badge of honor though.

These should definitely be handled more often, but at least I'm usually so busy with bad actors that I have no time to focus on checking good actors.

I think it's at least partially that bad behavior is a lot more visible than good behavior. Someone who tags explicit posts as sfw is going to be bonked faster than someone who quietly tags their posts correctly. Someone who leaves creepy comments has a glaring target on their back compared to someone who's supportive but mostly silent.

There are people who dedicate their time to to reading comments and reporting people, but no one is trying to find the users who are quietly doing tagging projects, writing wikis, checking and correcting post tags by the thousands so blacklists work, making sure pools are up to date, uploading all the good stuff, making the high quality and helpful comments, making sure that non-english posts are translated or making sure artists pages list all their accounts. I make a commendation when I find them and you could help look for those people too....or you can complain that someone who commented that they yanked to an image got told to not share that info. IDK whatever you want to do.

Understandable. Keeping the site user friendly is top priority. You could imagine how bad things would get if nothing went unpunished. All i mean is well Do please look out for those good boys and girls. Haha. Think I saw a positive record one time for guy who tagged over a thousand tags. That's a lot of work. Oh wow you have a great record im honored ๐Ÿ™

How funny, I was wondering earlier why positive records on accounts seem to be handed out more rarely nowadays.

Another part of it could be the negative connotation folks might associate with the report function, since most other sites use their report functions solely for bad behavior. Even I assumed the report function here was only for reporting bad behavior.

I don't think a lot of people know this but if you go to a user's profile, there is an option to Report/Commend on the top.
Most of the time though it would be used to report bad behaviour or rule breaking, but you can also use it to "Rep +1" a user whose actions you feel are worthy of praise.

Otherwise, positive records are mostly only given out when a user's stats (e.g., post count, post changes) reach a distinguishable level.
Reaching 10,000 (valid) tag edits or posts would make you stand out from the crowd and more likely to be noticed by staff.

I never noticed the Commend part there. It's awesome that folks can commend other folks for good behavior, though I agree that most users aren't familiar about this. I wonder if a PSA on commending good behavior would help to improve the amount of commends folks send out?

I think many also don't notice it because, most of the time, when we go to a user profile, it's generally our own, and Report/Commend doesn't appear on our own profile.

As far as I'm aware, positive records and account upgrades only really get handed out if you report/commend someone and staff agree. I'd presume only a handful were given out without one.

There's also more info on the different accounts here:

There's also a pseudo-contributor role where the upload limit is unrestricted and posts are automatically approved for non-priv+ members (like me).

I was about to mention this, until I realized you already said it. Still, I have to wonder what the ratio's like, between people who got commended first, to those who didn't get any peer commendation at all. Mostly really just out of curiosity, since I'm not really sure why I find that interesting.

You can play around with the User Listing Search and sort users by different orders, with min/max account levels.
For example, here's the list of non-priv+ members sorted by highest tag edit count.

Think the mods have enough work policing people, so rewarding them falls to the wayside...lol
