Topic: Tag alias: lifted -> lifting (+ carrying?)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #47027 lifted -> lifting has been rejected.

Reason: As pointed out on topic #12473 and suggested on topic #11658, some 4 years ago.

On a separate note, what's the difference between lifting and carrying? I was considering aliasing them both together but the tags themselves seem too vague/require disambiguation. Also consider cradling and dangling.

EDIT: The tag alias lifted -> lifting (forum #295377) has been rejected by @NotMeNotYou.

Carrying requires actual carrying (usually with arms or on shoulder(s)), and should always be taggable with one of the subtags.

Lifting probably needs disambiguation, but as far as 'lifting characters' goes, think of subtags like lifted_by_tail. I think it should also include stuff like... partially lifting a character who's hanging from bondage gear, or supporting themselves against a wall (possibly even including stuff like wheelbarrow position?)

Honestly, I was under the impression that dangling would be what lifted_by_tail is trying to describe (i.e. being dangled/carried around on one's own tail), and that lifted_by_tail would be for when someone is lifted BY a tail (i.e. carried around by someone's tail).
E.g., post #2358303

And wouldn't "partially lifting a character who's hanging from bondage gear" still fall under suspension?

I'm also unclear on the difference between lifting and carrying. Would it be reasonable to say that carrying requires a character to be held entirely off the ground while lifting would cover cases when a character is only partially supported? (including the aforementioned wheelbarrow position)

Yes, I think that lifting / lifted makes sense for wheelbarrow position as well as carrying. I have wanted to include the entire process of lifting as part of the lifting tag. So if someone is trying to lift something off the ground, that is also lifting or at least something related to it.

Yes, carrying requires the character to be off the ground. Though I think something like an arm or a long tail trailing to the ground is allowed. Just nothing that supports the characters' weight.

Wheelbarrow position isn't carrying, since the character is supporting themselves.
