Topic: What to do about character species issue?

Posted under General

I only just found out that the character I focus on posting art from is actually technically a Tauren from World Of Warcraft.

but she doesn't really look like one in most of her art, due to the artist's chibi style and what not.

because the site is TWYS I wasn't sure if I should edit all of the art to include the species since it's not apparent.

should I leave it as is and only tag them as tauren in world of warcaft art the person makes, or for every picture now that I know?

The boring answer would be "tag what you see", but it's probably too disingenuous to pretend that taggers don't rely on established canon for species (e.g. knuckles the echidna doesn't look at all like an echidna).

With that said, I have an example of my own. The male on this post is listed as a "Luskandox" on the owner's page, which is a Panda/Lion/Husky/Fox hybrid. I can pick out maybe... two of those elements? I'm still not sure which one(s) should be listed for the character.

God I'd just call that a dog.

Agreed with Versperus. If I was asked what that was, without any outside context, I would've just tagged it canis, add the marking/fur color tags, and left it at that. I'm still struggling to even see where the lion is supposed to be in there at all.
