Topic: changing_room and dressing_room

I was just about to suggest an implication for locker_room -> changing_room and then discovered that dressing_room and changing_room have similar posts.

Before I start retagging 50+ posts, I just want to make sure I got this right; isn't changing rooms basically locker rooms without the lockers and dressing rooms the place where you try out clothes at malls and shops?

You're thinking fitting rooms, with that latter example. A dressing room is that fancier one with wardrobes and mirror desks.

I don't know how strictly they are used elsewhere, but in my region they are used interchangeably.

Then again, I might just live in a less fancy region. :(

Well, it's just I never hear it used unless it's in reference to those celebrity dressing rooms, y'know?

Dressing room made me think of the backstage rooms where touring artists hang out. And of theater dressing rooms.

Changing room sounds completely unfamiliar to me. Those might be too ambiguous to keep. Both seem to get tagged a lot for fitting cubicles rooms.

Okay, so how about we alias changing_room to fitting_room and keep dressing_room for the backstage-related posts, while the other posts in dressing_room are moved to fitting_room?
