The thing turns on, but the screen doesn't show anything. The hard disk light only flickers once every eleven seconds and the optical drive skips.

@BooruHitomi: my gut would say take out the battery and put it back in. But that may not be the best solution, but maybe that could help as a last resort perhaps.

Some say a BIOS update can fix. Hopefully whatever the issue can be is not a tough fix.
